Impilo and Abcon Group Foundation

  • Abcon Group Foundation NPC (AGF) has since 2011 supported Impilo Foster Homes for Aid Orphans NPC with various projects.
  • These projects among other include Easter and Christmas functions for genesis crèche in Diepsloot, Johannesburg
  • This relationship is being strengthened further by the development of the Impilo Village, Timsrand
  • Abcon Group Foundation will facilitate the development of the Impilo Village while Impilo Foster Homes for Aid Orphans will be responsible for the day to day running of the Impilo Village.
  • Abcon Group Foundation bought the property with a donation received from Abland and donated 50% to Impilo Foster Homes for Aid Orphans
  • Both NPC’s own 50% undivided share of the property, meaning that both Abcon Group Foundation and Impilo Foster Homes for Aid Orphans will remain involved in the Impilo Village to ensure its success

Operational Model

  • Impilo Foster Homes NPC will be a family environment with foster parents responsible for the day to day running of the home as with any other family home.
  • Foster Parents are responsible for the day-to-day running of their respective foster home, as is the case with any family home. Each home will have 6 children, which is allowed to a maximum of 8 children in the event these children are siblings not to be separated
  • Foster parents are supported by Care Givers and professional staff, i.e. social worker, psychologist, education specialist, medical doctor and pastor.
  • The Impilo Village Timsrand will be managed by the Village Manager (with assistant) and financial and administrative staff. Professionals and qualified staff will be appointed for the operation and management of the schools, the primary health care centre/clinic, sports-/recreation centre and skills development centre. Some of the professional staff and volunteers, as well as supporting staff will be accommodated at the Impilo Village.

Sustainability

  • The Impilo Village will have solar panels for power generation, solar geysers, (O)LED lighting, insulation of roof, ceilings and walls, cooking on gas, water supply from its own boreholes, rain- and storm water catchment, and will have its own package sewage treatment plant.
  • The estimated operating expense of the village is R1 000 000 per month.
  • The operational expenses will be funded by individuals, churches and businesses. Impilo Foster Homes has already secured a commitment for the operational expenses of a number of the first foster homes to be built.

Flow of Funds & Benefits

  • All contributions will be received by Impilo Foster Homes NPC or AGF NPC. Such contributions will be used solely for the benefit of Impilo Village.
